Job summary

New York Health (NYH) in New York is seeking a Medical Assistant - Float to support patient intake, lab processing, vital signs, and prep for exams across multiple locations in NY.

You will assist providers, perform EKGs and point-of-care tests, sterilize equipment, and maintain accurate records. A Medical Assistant Certificate and HS diploma are required, with EMR experience preferred and bilingual skills a plus.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Certificate and HS Diploma required.
• Proficiency with EMR system preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Reliable transportation to NYH locations for patient care needs.
• Ability to work prolonged periods at a desk and on a computer, with standing and bending as needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient intakes, ensuring accurate information recording
• Collect and process lab specimens, including venipuncture and diagnostic tests
• Record patients' vital signs
• Prepare patients for examinations
• Sterilize medical equipment and instruments
• Assist providers and other support staff in the data entry process
• Assist physicians during visits with examinations and all office procedures
• Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing
• Other duties as assigned

Medical Assistant - Float

Location: Westhampton, Riverhead, Wading River, Rocky Point, Mt. Sinai, Port Jefferson, & East Setauket, NY

Hours/Days: 5/8.5 hour shifts, Mon-Fri between 7am-8pm

Organization: New York Health (NYH) - PCP

In This Role, You Will

• Manage patient intakes, ensuring accurate information recording

We Require

• A Medical Assistant Certificate and a High School Diploma
• Proficiency with an EMR system (Preferred)
• Bilingual English/Spanish (Preferred)
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
• Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYH locations for patient care needs
