Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Medical Assistant I / Patient Service Specialist I to join the clinical and administrative team. You will manage rooming, vital signs, EMR documentation, and patient scheduling to support physicians in a high-quality care environment.

The role requires excellent customer service, strong communication, and proficiency with EMR systems (Athena preferred). High school diploma and MA program completion are required with MA certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Education from approved medical assistant program or equivalent.
• One to three years as a medical assistant preferred.
• Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
• Experience with EMR preferred (Athena preferred).

Responsibilities

• Works closely with providers to assist in delivering world class care to patients.
• Room patients and prepares the patient for the provider visit.
• Take vital signs and record in EMR with accuracy.
• Record patient history and medication information in EMR.
• Obtain required consents and complete necessary forms.
• Perform office testing and EKGs as ordered.
• Chaperone providers as required and administer vaccines as directed.
• Stock and monitor supplies in exam rooms.
• Answer, triage, and route incoming calls; assist with scheduling and referrals.
