Job summary

Brown University Health is hiring a Medical Assistant I / Patient Service Specialist I to join the clinical and administrative team in North Dartmouth. You will room patients, take vital signs, enter information in the EMR, and support scheduling and outreach activities.

The role requires strong customer service, excellent communication, and EMR experience; a High School Diploma and MA program are preferred. Work hours are 8am-4:30pm, day shift, in a patient-centered setting.

Qualifications

Strong customer service excellence is expected.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Experience with EMR is strongly preferred (Athena preferred but not required).
Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Education from approved medical assistant program or equivalent.
One to three years as a medical assistant preferred.
Medical Assistant Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Works closely with providers to assist in delivering world class care to patients.
Room patients and prepares the patient for the provider visit.
Take vital signs and record them in EMR accurately.
Record patient history and medication information in EMR.
Obtain consents and complete required forms for visits.
Perform office testing and basic controls on tests as needed.
Perform EKGs and chaperone Providers as required.
Administer vaccines and medications as ordered by provider following policies.
Stock rooms and monitor supply expiration.
Handle incoming calls, triage, and route calls as needed.
Register patients in EMR and verify demographics and insurance information.
