Medical Assistant/Patient Service Representative - Beth Israel Medical Group

Join us for the Medical Assistant/Patient Service Representative - Beth Israel Medical Group role at Mount Sinai Morningside.

Job Description

Responsible for providing patient procedures as ordered by the physician under the guidance of licensed medical staff (LPN, RN, NP, or MD). Provides clerical support to ensure efficient office operations. Operational hours vary from 8 AM to 8 PM, including weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure delivery of patient care aligns with Beth Israel Medical Group's philosophy.
  • Perform EKGs, PFTs, audiometry, and lab tests as ordered.
  • Admit patients, take vital signs, and gather medical and medication histories.
  • Perform quality controls and ensure proper documentation.
  • Manage patient referrals and ensure they are completed and forwarded correctly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in examination rooms and medical areas.
  • Stock supplies and check deliveries against packing slips.
  • Greet patients and visitors promptly and courteously.
  • Register patients, update information, and schedule appointments.
  • Retrieve and file medical reports and lab results.
  • Maintain the patient waiting area and front desk.
  • Process HMO referrals and communicate emergencies to physicians.
  • Handle messages and follow-ups on calls.
  • Manage financial transactions and cash box accountability.
  • Coordinate with insurance companies and other departments.
  • Assist with shifts and confirm appointments as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant or two years relevant experience preferred.

Compensation

The hourly salary range is $27.48 - $27.98, depending on experience and qualifications. This does not include bonuses or additional benefits.
