Job Overview:

Provides basic, direct patient care, considering the specific needs related to the patient's age. Responsible for patient care and functions as a member of the healthcare team, following the guidance of the Registered Nurse. All care is provided in accordance with department policies, procedures, and Standards of Care.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High School Diploma
• BLS Certification through American Heart Association
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Effective communication and basic math skills
• Successful completion of all Orientation Programs

Preferred:

• Previous Nursing Assistant experience, or successful completion of two RN accredited clinical courses, or completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program

Certifications and Licenses:

• BLS certification through American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

• Evenings 3:00PM - 11:00PM
• Every other weekend required; weekday schedule varies based on department needs
• Part-Time (22.5 hrs)
• Mandatory Orientation

Essential Functions:

• Participates in patient needs assessment and communicates with the healthcare team
• Participates in staff, patient, and family education as per personal knowledge
• Engages in unit Quality Improvement activities
• Applies understanding of growth and development principles to assess age-specific needs and provide appropriate care
