Job summary

Bluewater Orthopedics is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant. You will prepare patients and ensure a positive experience during office visits. The position may rotate between three facilities as needed.

Responsibilities include patient prep, EMR documentation, coordinating tests, and assisting physicians. Must have a high school diploma or GED; an associate degree is preferred and Athena EMR experience is desired.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of work experience in a medical office environment.
• Athena EMR experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for evaluation and management by reviewing pertinent patient information including patient medications on each visit.
• Answers telephones, takes messages, and returns calls to patients.
• Manages prescriptions.
• Prepares charts and responds to referral requests.
• Takes patient histories, vital signs, and documents them into an EMR system.
• Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary equipment/supplies for each patient’s visit.
• Maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
• Assists physicians and physician assistants.
• Ensures that patients have all tests/studies/documentation completed before seeing the medical provider.
• Work is of high demand, requiring walking and standing.
• Performs casting and splinting.
• Applies DME.
