Job summary

Bluewater Orthopedics is seeking a Part-Time Medical Assistant to prepare patients and ensure a positive experience during office visits. The role will rotate between three facilities as needed.

Essential duties include patient histories, vital signs, EMR documentation, room preparation, and assistance to physicians. Must have a High School Diploma/GED; one year medical office experience preferred; ATHENA EMR experience a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum of one year work experience in medical office environment.
• ATHENA EMR experience preferred.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Professionalism, good work ethic and engaging team member.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for evaluation and management by reviewing pertinent patient information including patient medication on each visit.
• Answering telephones, taking messages, returning calls to patients.
• Prescription management.
• Chart preparation, responding to referral requests.
• Takes patient histories and vital signs and documents into EMR system.
• Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary equipment/supplies for each patient’s visit.
• Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
• Assists physicians and physician assistants.
• Ensuring that patients have all tests/studies/documentation completed before seeing the medical provider.
• Work is of high demand, walking and standing.
• Casting and splinting
