Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care in our Charlotte area clinics. You will room patients, obtain vital signs, review medical histories, and assist with screenings while supporting the clinical team.

You will perform basic lab duties including specimen handling and venipuncture, administer vaccines per protocol, and help with scheduling, referrals, and insurance authorizations as needed. AHA BLS is required where applicable.

Qualifications

• Must have solid communication and customer service skills.
• Proficient computer skills; comfortable with Windows and EMR systems.
• Ability to work within Medical Assistant scope of practice and adhere to state and facility policies.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows department procedures.
• Performs rooming tasks: vital signs, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures and performs lab duties including venipuncture and specimen handling.
• Administers medications and vaccines safely per medication rights.
• Handles referrals, scheduling, insurance authorizations, and patient messaging as needed.
• Maintains clean work environment and ensures equipment and supplies are stocked.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Completion of accredited Medical Assistant program or military training per DD214 in lieu of program
