Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians in a busy outpatient clinic. You will collect vital signs, prepare patients for exams, and document medical histories in the EMR, following protocols and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities include assisting with procedures, administering routine meds under orders, coordinating referrals, and maintaining patient flow. Strong communication and teamwork are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
• 1 year experience preferred.
• Knowledge of basic and advanced clinical skills within Medical Assistant scope of practice.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and gathering/documenting pertinent health information.
• Monitors and completes Clinical Integration/Quality Improvement measures with notification to clinician.
• Performs laboratory procedures using aseptic technique and infection control guidelines.
• Assists physician/APP with procedures.
• Administers routine medications under orders or standing protocols.
• Facilitates referrals and communicates with care team to maintain clinic flow.
• May perform basic/advanced clinical tasks under supervision.
• Provide age-appropriate care and communicate patient needs to the team.

Education

Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program

BLS certification (AHA)

CMA - American Association of Medical Assistants
