Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care in outpatient settings. You will follow scope of practice, perform rooming tasks, vital signs, history, and screenings, and assist providers with procedures while maintaining CLIA-waived lab duties when assigned.

You will ensure safe medication administration, coordinate referrals, maintain a clean environment, and demonstrate effective communication and teamwork across multiple sites within the network.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent clinical training.
• Basic lifesupport and other certifications may be required per division.
• Ability to perform routine and complex MA skills after demonstrated competency.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies.
• Performs rooming tasks: vital signs, history, screening, and health maintenance.
• Assists providers with procedures and performs related duties as ordered.
• Performs lab duties including venipuncture, specimen handling, CLIA-waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines safely following medication rights.
• Handles referrals, scheduling, and patient messaging as needed.
• Cross-trained for duties related to clinic practice within MA scope.
• Maintains clean, stocked work areas and ensures equipment is functional.
• Demonstrates effective communication and teamwork, with appropriate escalation.
