Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program with certificate OR 1-3 years experience as a medical assistant or EMT/CNA with certificate OR successful completion of Northwell Health Medical Assistant training program.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with health care team to coordinate and implement patient care plans; may record visit reasons and related patient information.
• Performs vital signs, measurements, and screening procedures and documents findings.
• Collects specimens and assists in specimen processing following standard procedures.
• Performs daily controls and calibration of laboratory equipment as needed and reports inaccuracies.
• Performs electrocardiograms and phlebotomy per provider orders and adheres to infection control standards.
• Assists physicians and nurses with procedures and examinations, prepares instruments, and supports patient before/after procedures.
