Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide high-quality, direct patient care within a team-based model for BIDHC patients while supporting efficient administrative and clinical operations.

The role includes assisting during visits, collecting vitals, performing EKGs and phlebotomy, coordinating with care teams, and managing EHR tasks to ensure accurate documentation and billing. A strong emphasis on patient safety and population health is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 6 months clinical classroom.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to patient, practice, and organizational goals through relationship development and care team coordination.
• Assists during visits: facilitates flow, informs about delays, updates medication and allergy lists, reviews screening questions.
• Communicates clearly with patient and team and hands off to provider.
• Performs medical assisting duties (vital signs, vitals, EKGs, point of care testing, phlebotomy, immunizations).
• Leads population health outreach and health coaching to meet quality goals.
• Maintains and sterilizes medical equipment and supplies and keeps patient access unobstructed.
• Queues prescriptions in EHR and documents tasks for proper billing.
• Schedules diagnostic and lab tests and verifies insurance and pre-authorizations.
• Identifies OSHA compliance issues and protects PHI.
