Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Westwood Medical Pavilion - West, part-time Days shift. The role supports patient flow, prepares patients for visits, assists with procedures, and collaborates with physicians and nurses to deliver respectful, high-quality care.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or one year of MA experience, and BLS certification within 14 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or at least one year as a Medical Assistant or CCMA or NCRMA certification.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Schedule tests, obtain films/reports, and prepare laboratory specimens.
• Assist physicians/nurses with procedures as defined on competency checklist.
• Coordinate patient care with care team; record patient history elements.
• Submit prescriptions/refills electronically to outpatient pharmacies.
• Maintain medical records and ensure documentation is complete.
• Keep exam rooms clean, stock supplies, and maintain required logs.
• Greet patients; register; schedule; pre-certification of tests, procedures and medications.
• Perform simple procedures as directed; take vital signs and measurements.
• Must be able to perform competencies of the assigned unit.
• Other duties as required.
