Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
• MA Certification required within 90 days of hire
• H.S. Diploma/GED required
• Completion of Penn Medicine Approved Program (or higher-level equivalent) required
• 18+ months experience as MA may be considered in lieu of MA program completion
• Or 1+ year as Clinical Support Representative at Penn Medicine may be considered in lieu of MA program completion

Responsibilities

• Promptly rooms patients using EMR to alert provider
• Take patient vitals and prepare chart for visit
• Obtain specimens for testing and perform phlebotomy where applicable
• Perform EKGs and outpatient screening tests
• Assist with minor surgical procedures and maintain sterile field
• Respond to emergencies and ensure patient safety
• Coordinate care with specialists and other health services
• Maintain patient education materials and assist nursing staff
