Job summary

UnitedHealth Group, including WellMed in Texas, seeks a Medical Assistant to support patient care under physician supervision. You will assist in rooms, collect specimens, and ensure accurate documentation while upholding infection control and confidentiality standards.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, MA certification (or within 180 days), and a current BLS card. Travel within the market and strong customer service are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Basic computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties within the Medical Assistant scope of practice under supervision.
• Operates diagnostic equipment and performs basic wound care and specimen collection.
• Records patient care documentation accurately and timely.
• Coordinates patient care per physicians and clinic policies.
• Maintains infection control and patient confidentiality.
• Supports Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO) and other duties as assigned.
