Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following: Completed a Medical Assistant Program
• Certification/Registration as an MA
• 5+ years of MA experience in lieu of an MA Program
• 5+ years of Nurse Assistant or CNA with at least 1 year of experience

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and prepare them for physician examination per protocol.
• Keep patient chart information current per requirements.
• Document all sample medications dispensed in the medical record.
• Provide oversight to vaccine program following state guidelines.
• Check and restock rooms with supplies and prep exam rooms daily.
• Maintain inventory and report reorder needs to supervisor.
• Report malfunction of medical equipment to supervisor.
• Sterilize equipment and prepare surgical trays as directed.
• Assist physician with office procedures.
• Perform EKG and Spirometry as ordered.
• Communicate lab results and follow up with physician instructions.
• Handle prescription refills requests per protocol.
• Prepare specimens and paperwork for reference labs as directed.
• Instruct patients on proper specimen collection.
• Check medications monthly and dispose of expired items.
• Obtain precertifications for tests, procedures, or treatments.
• Schedule referrals and outside testing as directed.
• Maintain neat, organized work area and HIPAA compliant documentation.
• Participate in Care Team collaborations and float to other offices if needed.
