Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; graduate of an accredited medical assisting program preferred but not required
• CPR certification through the American Heart Association required; Medical Assistant Certification (AMT, AAMA, ARMA, CCMA, CMA, MAC, AMCA) preferred but not required
• One year of work experience in a medical office (or related field) required; on-the-job training provided

Responsibilities

• Answer phones
• Schedule appointments
• Collect co-payments
• Complete patient registrations
• Provide front office support to the physician practice
• Check in and check out patients
• Verify insurances
• Greet patients and escort them to exam room
• Document vital signs, allergies, medications and reason for visit
• Perform basic vitals (BP, height, weight)
• Phlebotomy and injections may be required
