Job summary

Community Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to support ambulatory care providers by facilitating patient visits, preparing exam rooms, collecting specimens, and performing point-of-care testing. You will document care in EPIC EMR and help manage referrals and medication refills while maintaining positive relationships with patients and staff.

The role requires either a MA certificate or a HS diploma with at least one year of MA experience in a physician practice, plus MA

Qualifications

  • Graduate or certificate from recognized medical assisting program or HS diploma with 1 year MA experience in physician practice within last 3 years.
  • Certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas including cleaning and stocking of supplies.
  • Room patients and manage provider's caseload flow.
  • Obtain vital signs, EKGs, and/or specimen collection.
  • Documentation of care using the EPIC EMR system.
  • Perform Point of Care Testing based on patient’s chief complaint and available protocols.
  • Process referrals and medication refills.
  • Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assist providers with patient visits and procedures in ambulatory care.
  • Facilitate efficient patient flow and exam room readiness.
  • Collect specimens and perform limited tests as ordered.
  • Document clinical care accurately in the EPIC EMR.
  • Manage referrals and medication refill requests.

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting the provider of an ambulatory health care site with facilitation of patient visit and procedures, routine laboratory tests, referrals, and quality outcomes for the population of the practice. As an MA, you will also get to actively participate in Network quality initiatives regarding best practices.

Exceptional Skills and Qualifications
  • Graduate/certificate of completion from a recognized medical assisting program OR a High School Diploma/GED + one year of medical assistant experience in a physician practice within the past three years.
  • Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire
  • Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for patient use including required cleaning and stocking of supplies
  • Room patients and manage an efficient flow of provider's caseload
  • Obtain necessary vital signs, EKGs, and/or specimen collection
  • Documentation of care using the EPIC EMR system
