Job summary

Quincy Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant in Orthopedics to support patients with musculoskeletal injuries and treatments. You will work with multiple providers to assist with exams, procedures, and care coordination, ensuring an efficient clinic experience.

The role requires ability to multitask in a fast-paced orthopedic setting and strong communication with patients. CPR certification is required and EMR experience is preferred. This is a full-time on-site position in Quincy, IL.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPR certification required (available upon hire).
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• Previous clinical experience in a physician office, orthopedic clinic, sports medicine, or healthcare setting preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and patient service skills.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs, medical histories, medication information, and visit details.
• Assist providers with examinations, injections, casting and splinting support, procedures, and specialty clinical workflows.
• Prepare patients for office visits, procedures, and surgical consultations.
• Coordinate referrals, imaging studies, diagnostic testing, prior authorization, medication refills, and follow-up appointments.
• Communicate provider recommendations, test results, treatment plans, and patient education materials.
• Respond to patient phone calls, portal messages, and clinical inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
• Assist with procedure room preparation, inventory management, and equipment readiness.
• Support preoperative and postoperative patient education and care coordination.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and clinical areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support orthopedic clinic operations.

About The Role

As a Medical Assistant in Orthopedics at Quincy Medical Group, you will play a key role in supporting patients with musculoskeletal injuries, conditions, and treatments. Working closely with multiple orthopedic providers, you will assist with patient visits, procedures, care coordination, and follow-up care while helping ensure an efficient clinic experience. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment, values teamwork, and is passionate about helping patients restore mobility and improve their quality of life.

This role supports multiple providers and requires the ability to multitask, adapt quickly to changing priorities, and confidently communicate with patients both in person and over the phone. Knowledge of basic anatomy and medical terminology is preferred.

Schedule & Work Environment

• Full-time position, Monday-Thursday, 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM, and Friday, 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM.


• Hours may vary based on provider and departmental needs.


• No routine weekends, holidays, overnight shifts, or on-call requirements.


• Fast-paced orthopedic specialty clinic supporting multiple providers and a high volume of patient interactions.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $16.12 - $24.18 per hour, with actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
