Scripps Health's Torrey Pines clinic is hiring a full-time benefitted Medical Assistant for Orthopedic Surgery, with Monday–Friday 8-hour shifts, start times as early as 7:00 AM and end times as late as 5:00 PM. This role supports clinicians in a fast-paced specialty setting and contributes to smooth patient flow.

You will perform rooming, vitals, and procedure support, with back-office duties emphasized, and some front-office tasks as needed.

• Rooming patients
• Checking vitals
• Assisting with procedures
• Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
• Predominantly back-office responsibilities but is expected to help with front-office duties on an as-needed basis
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
• Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice
• Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
• Collecting patient data in person and by phone
• Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
• Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
• Scheduling of appointments and procedures
• Complete and accurate message taking
• Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
• Order and referral entry
• Acquisition of pre-certifications
• Setting up of cases in EPIC
• Basic registration and updating of demographics
