Scripps Health in San Diego is seeking a Medical Assistant for an orthopedic specialty. The role supports patient care, rooming, vitals, and clerical tasks in a clinic setting with 8-hour day shifts on weekdays, no weekends. Start times typically 7:00–8:00 a.m., based at Scripps Clinic Carmel Valley.

Required: completion of MA program or MA certification or 2+ years as a military corpsman; BLS-Healthcare Provider. Preferred: outpatient MA experience and orthopedic exposure. MA new grads welcome.

Qualifikationen

• Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman.

• Rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures.
• Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment.
• Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician's practice.
• Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person.
• Collecting patient data in person and by phone.
• Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review.
• Scheduling of appointments and procedures.
• Order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certifications.
• Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographics.

This is a benefited, full-time position working 8-hour day shifts on weekdays only, with no weekends required. Start times typically range between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. The position is based at Scripps Clinic Carmel Valley.

What you'll do:

• Rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures
• Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
• Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician's practice
• Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
• Collecting patient data in person and by phone
• Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
• Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
• Scheduling of appointments and procedures
• Complete and accurate message taking
• Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
• Order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certifications
• Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographics

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman

Required Certification/Registration:

BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

One year of experience as a MA in an outpatient setting

Previous experience in Orthopedics
