OrthoVirginia seeks a Medical Assistant in Reston to join a fast-paced orthopedic care team. You will work closely with physicians, clinical staff, and patients from the initial visit through post-operative care.

You will prepare exam rooms, take vital signs, document medical history, educate patients on cast and traction care, and help coordinate follow-up visits and imaging. This role offers a collaborative, team-oriented environment with opportunities to grow clinically.

Qualifications

  • Welcome and room patients, obtain vital signs, and document relevant medical history and information.
  • Support physicians and clinical team members with patient care throughout the visit.
  • Educate patients on orthopedic care, including cast care, traction care, and the proper use of orthopedic appliances.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare exam rooms and ensure clinical areas are ready for patients and providers.
  • Welcome and room patients, obtain vital signs, and document relevant medical history and information.
  • Support physicians and clinical team members with patient care throughout the visit.
  • Educate patients on orthopedic care, including cast care, traction care, and the proper use of orthopedic appliances.
  • Enter physician-directed orders for services such as X-rays and physical therapy.
  • Coordinate follow-up appointments, post-operative visits, diagnostic studies, and other patient care needs.
  • Assist with surgery scheduling, including coordinating pre-operative testing, therapy, and pre- and post-operative equipment.
  • Help manage patient flow to support an efficient and positive experience for patients and providers.
  • Respond to patient calls, appropriately triage questions and concerns, and help ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked exam, treatment, and bracing rooms.
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures for the handling and disposal of sharps and biohazardous materials.
  • Partner with the broader clinical team to support an exceptional patient experience.
