Job summary

OrthoVirginia Inc. seeks a compassionate Medical Assistant to join our largest Virginia musculoskeletal care network. You will support exam rooms, patient rooming, vital signs, and documentation while assisting providers with visits and in-office procedures.

You will educate patients on cast care, brace use, and post‑treatment steps, coordinate imaging and therapy, and help triage calls, ensuring smooth patient flow and excellent service in a fast‑paced clinic.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program or CMA/RMA/CCMA certification.
• Experience in a medical office or orthopedic practice; EMR familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and ensure clinical areas are clean and stocked.
• Room patients, take histories, record vitals, and document information.
• Assist providers with exams, treatments, and procedures.
• Educate patients on orthopedic care, cast care, and post-treatment steps.
• Coordinate follow-ups, imaging, therapy, and surgical scheduling.
• Enter orders for testing and therapy as needed.
• Support surgery coordination, including pre-op testing.
• Answer patient calls, triage concerns, and provide service.
• Collaborate with the team to keep patient flow efficient.

What You’ll Do

• Preparing exam rooms and ensuring clinical areas are clean, stocked, and ready for patient care.
• Rooming patients, obtaining medical histories, recording vital signs, and documenting clinical information.
• Assisting providers with patient examinations, treatments, and in‑office procedures.
• Educating patients on orthopedic care, including cast care, brace use, and post-treatment instructions.
• Coordinating patient care by scheduling follow‑up appointments, imaging, therapy, and surgical procedures.
• Entering provider orders for diagnostic testing, therapy, and other patient care needs.
• Supporting surgery coordination, including pre‑operative testing and equipment arrangements.
• Responding to patient phone calls, addressing questions, and appropriately triaging concerns.
• Collaborating with providers and the clinical team to keep patient flow efficient while delivering outstanding customer service.

What You’ll Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program, Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent), or relevant clinical experience.
• Experience in a medical office, outpatient clinic, or orthopedic practice.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR).
• Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced clinical environment.
• Basic computer proficiency and attention to detail.

Compensation Range for this position: $20.68 - $31.02

Compensation for this role will be based on several factors, including the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, education, skills, certifications, geography/market, and internal equity considerations.
