In this role, you will assist physicians with patient care, including clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, registering patients, scheduling testing, exams, and treatments, maintaining stocked supplies, and ensuring clean exam rooms.

Responsibilities:
- Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
- Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, and complete forms/requisitions. Schedule appointments, verify insurance coverage, and manage patient demographics. Prepare and manage charts to ensure information is complete and filed appropriately. Perform other front office duties as required.
- Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment per protocol. Clean exam/procedure rooms and instruments between visits to maintain infection control, following scheduled maintenance and keeping records. Manage inventory of supplies and restock as needed.
- Check schedules, organize patient flow, and assist patients with walking, transfers, dressing, specimen collection, and preparation for exams. Collect patient information, take vitals, perform screenings, and relay instructions to patients and families.
- Answer calls, provide information, and educate patients as directed.
- Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level-one labs. Assist physicians with procedures and document patient information in the medical record.
- Comply with regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Maintain confidentiality and adhere to UPMC policies and procedures.
- Under supervision of a physician, administer injectable medications and vaccines when appropriate.
