• Perform back-office and patient-related tasks supporting high-quality patient care


• Help ensure smooth patient and workflow within the department


• Assist the patient care team in implementing the medical plan of care


• Integrate education, technical competence, and patient interaction skills to gain patient and family cooperation


• Perform all duties under the direction of a clinician

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)


• Completion of a course of study consistent with Medical Assistant requirements specified by the Medical Board of California; diploma must be presented within 90 days


• OR completion of Sutter Health on-the-job training in medical assisting equivalent to one year


• BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification


• 1 year of recent relevant experience


• General knowledge of medical procedures, views, and equipment


• Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology


• Competence and validation in basic Medical Assisting skills, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and administering injections


• Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule-based data and instructions


• Written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences


• Time management and organizational skills, including prioritization and meeting deadlines within standardized procedures


• General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and electronic health records (EHR)


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team


• Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions


• Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems using established solutions


• Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and healthcare providers
