- Provide clinical and clerical support to providers and patient care teams
- Perform back-office and patient-related tasks supporting high-quality patient care
- Help ensure smooth patient and workflow within the department
- Assist the patient care team in implementing the medical plan of care
- Integrate education, technical competence, and patient interaction skills to gain patient and family cooperation
- Perform all duties under the direction of a clinician
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Completion of a course of study consistent with Medical Assistant requirements specified by the Medical Board of California; diploma must be presented within 90 days
- OR completion of Sutter Health on-the-job training in medical assisting equivalent to one year
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
- 1 year of recent relevant experience
- General knowledge of medical procedures, views, and equipment
- Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
- Competence and validation in basic Medical Assisting skills, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and administering injections
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule-based data and instructions
- Written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences
- Time management and organizational skills, including prioritization and meeting deadlines within standardized procedures
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and electronic health records (EHR)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions
- Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems using established solutions
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and healthcare providers
