Qualifications

  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification required.

  • Provide clinical and clerical support to providers and patient care teams
  • Perform back-office and patient-related tasks supporting high-quality patient care
  • Help ensure smooth patient and workflow within the department
  • Assist the patient care team in implementing the medical plan of care
  • Educate and interact with patients, families, support groups, and healthcare providers
  • Perform all duties under the direction of a clinician
  • Complete required new-hire training during the initial first two weeks, with availability for up to 40 hours
  • Work varied shifts and an 8-hour shift schedule
  • Work variable days, including weekend coverage once a month
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Completion of a course of study consistent with Medical Assistant requirements specified by the Medical Board of California; diploma must be presented within 90 days
  • OR completion of Sutter Health on-the-job training in medical assisting equivalent to one year
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
  • 1 year of recent relevant experience
  • General knowledge of medical procedures, views, and equipment
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
  • Competency in basic Medical Assisting skills, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and administering injections
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based data and instructions
  • Written and verbal communication skills for explaining sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences
  • Time management and organizational skills, including prioritization and working within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and electronic health records (EHR)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an interruption-prone environment
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems using established solutions
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and healthcare providers
