Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of a course of study consistent with Medical Board of California requirements for Medical Assistants, with diploma presented within 90 days
• OR completion of Sutter Health on-the-job medical assisting training equivalent to one year
• BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
• 1 year of recent relevant experience
• General knowledge of medical procedures, views, and equipment
• Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
• Competency and validation in basic Medical Assisting skills, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and administering injections
• Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule-based data and instructions
• Written and verbal communication skills for explaining sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences
• Time management and organizational skills, including prioritization and meeting deadlines within standardized procedures
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and electronic health records (EHR)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an interrupt-driven environment
• Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems using established solutions
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and healthcare providers
