  • Competency in vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and injections.
  • Ability to interpret data/instructions in various formats.

Job description

  • Provide clinical and clerical support to providers and patient care teams
  • Perform back-office and patient-related tasks supporting high-quality patient care
  • Help ensure smooth patient and workflow within the department
  • Assist the patient care team in implementing the medical plan of care
  • Integrate education, technical competence, and patient interaction skills to gain patient and family cooperation
  • Perform all duties under the direction of a clinician
  • Take vital signs, prepare patients for examinations, and administer injections
  • Work Monday-Friday variable day shifts, with stated Saturday and Sunday weekend requirements
  • Support a full-time, 40-hour weekly schedule

Demonstrates proficiency in Medical Assisting skills, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and administering injections. Possesses strong communication and organizational skills to support patient care teams and ensure efficient workflow in a clinical setting.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Completion of a course of study consistent with Medical Board of California requirements for Medical Assistants, with diploma presented within 90 days, OR completion of Sutter Health on-the-job medical assisting training equivalent to one year
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
  • 1 year of recent relevant experience
  • General knowledge of medical procedures, views, and equipment
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
  • Competency and validation in basic Medical Assisting skills, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and administering injections
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-form data and instructions
  • Written and verbal communication skills for explaining sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences
  • Time management and organizational skills, including prioritization and meeting deadlines
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and electronic health records (EHR)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an interruptive environment
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems using established solutions
  • Ability to collaborate with peers and healthcare providers
  • Must be available for Monday-Friday variable schedules and weekend requirements listed as Saturday and Sunday
