Sutter Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clinical and clerical support to providers and patient care teams in a fast-paced department.   • Current BLS Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification.
  • 1 year of recent relevant experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical procedures, anatomy, physiology, pathology, and terminology.

Job description

  • Provide clinical and clerical support to providers and patient care teams
  • Perform back-office and patient-related tasks supporting high-quality patient care
  • Help ensure smooth patient and workflow within the department
  • Assist the patient care team in implementing the medical plan of care
  • Educate and interact with patients, families, support groups, and healthcare providers to gain confidence and cooperation
  • Perform duties under the direction of a clinician
  • Take vital signs, prepare patients for examinations, and administer injections
  • Prioritize assignments and complete multiple tasks within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods
  • Collaborate with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course of study consistent with California Medical Board requirements, with diploma presented within 90 days; or equivalent Sutter Health training program; or one year of equivalent Sutter Health on-the-job training
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
  • 1 year of recent relevant experience
  • General knowledge of medical procedures, views, and equipment
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
  • Competence and validation in basic Medical Assisting skills, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and administering injections
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule-based data and instructions
  • Written and verbal communication skills for explaining sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences
  • Time management and organizational skills, including prioritization and meeting deadlines within standardized procedures
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and electronic health records (EHR)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an interruption-prone environment
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems using established solutions
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and healthcare providers
