Job summary

Community Health Network in Indianapolis, Indiana is seeking a Medical Assistant to support ambulatory care teams. You will facilitate patient visits, perform routine tests, manage referrals, and document care using the EPIC EMR system. You will work with providers and staff to maintain efficient patient flow, prepare exam rooms, and participate in continuous quality initiatives across the network.

Qualifications

• Must have MA certification within 6 months of hire or equivalent credentials.
• Graduate/certificate from an approved medical assisting program or HS diploma with relevant MA experience.
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas, stock supplies, and assist with patient flow.
• Record vitals, EKGs, and specimens as needed per protocol.
• Document care using the EPIC EMR system and process referrals.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient flow and room scheduling to support efficient care.

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting the provider of an ambulatory health care site with facilitation of patient visit and procedures, routine laboratory tests, referrals, and quality outcomes for the population of the practice. As an MA, you will also get to actively participate in Network quality initiatives regarding best practices.

Exceptional Skills and Qualifications

Applicants for this position should be able to collaborate with others in a team setting, have excellent communication skills, and a positive attitude toward problem-solving.

• Graduate/certificate of completion from a recognized medical assisting program OR a High School Diploma/GED + one year of medical assistant experience in a physician practice within the past three years.
• Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for patient use including required cleaning and stocking of supplies
• Room patients and manage an efficient flow of provider’s caseload
• Obtain necessary vital signs, EKGs, and/or specimen collection
• Documentation of care using the EPIC EMR system
• Perform Point of Care Testing based on patient’s chief complaint and available protocols
• Process referrals and medication refills
• Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff
