Job summary

Community Health Network in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers at an ambulatory site, facilitating patient visits, assisting with procedures, and helping achieve quality outcomes for our patient population.

The ideal candidate will have a Medical Assistant certificate or HS diploma with MA experience, and EPIC EMR proficiency. Certification within 6 months of hire is required; occasional float to other offices may be needed to meet a 40-hour workweek.

Qualifications

• Graduate/certificate of completion from a recognized medical assisting program or HS Diploma/GED with 1 year MA experience in a physician practice within the past 3 years.
• Certification as Medical Assistant within 6 months of hire is required.
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas, including cleaning and stocking of supplies.
• Document care using the EPIC EMR system.
• Room patients and manage efficient flow of provider’s caseload.

Responsibilities

• Assist the provider during patient visits and procedures.
• Perform routine laboratory tests, vital signs, EKGs, and specimen collection.
• Process referrals and medication refills.
• Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff.

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting the provider of an ambulatory health care site with facilitation of patient visit and procedures, routine laboratory tests, referrals, and quality outcomes for the population of the practice. As an MA, you will also get to actively participate in Network quality initiatives regarding best practices.

• Graduate/certificate of completion from a recognized medical assisting program OR a High School Diploma/GED + one year of medical assistant experience in a physician practice within the past three years.
• Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for patient use including required cleaning and stocking of supplies
• Room patients and manage an efficient flow of provider’s caseload
• Obtain necessary vital signs, EKGs, and/or specimen collection
• Documentation of care using the EPIC EMR system
• Perform Point of Care Testing based on patient’s chief complaint and available protocols
• Process referrals and medication refills
• Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff

During low census may require flexibility with schedule and/or float to other offices to meet FTE of 40 hours per week.
