Position: Medical Assistant - Clinic

Location: Highland, IN

Specialty: OB/GYN

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Provider, performs patient care services, assists the Provider and other medical staff with patient visits and procedures in a medical office or clinic setting. May also perform front desk duties, including telephone work, patient scheduling, and ordering supplies. If applicable, responsible for phlebotomy, including the collection and processing of specimens such as blood, urine, pap smears, and cultures.

Education/Experience Requirements

1. High School graduate or GED equivalent required.
2. Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is required OR current certification as a Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant.
3. Six months of prior experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
4. Must maintain current CPR certification. TB certification may be required for specific offices.
5. Basic understanding of medical documentation and terminology; accuracy in spelling and recording information.
6. Organizational skills focused on tracking patient care and improving patient flow.
7. Ability to multitask efficiently and effectively.
8. Capable of acting calmly and effectively in busy or stressful situations.
9. Completes annual skill validation, safety, and infection control procedures.
10. Excellent attitude, interpersonal skills, and communication abilities to interact with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
