OB experience plus
MUST have completed an accredited or approved Medical Assistant program, or have 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years.
Major Responsibilities
- Prepare and room patients for exams by obtaining vital signs and gathering pertinent health information, monitor and complete Clinical Integration/Quality Improvement measures.
- Perform laboratory procedures such as strep tests, wound cultures, specimen collection, following aseptic techniques and infection control guidelines.
- Assist physicians/APPs with procedures like pelvic exams, allergy testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
- Administer routine medications under physician/APP orders or approved protocols, including immunizations, antibiotics, vitamins, and topical agents.
- Coordinate procedures, tests, referrals, and communicate effectively with patients and team members to ensure smooth clinic flow.
- Perform basic and advanced clinical tasks based on specialty and competencies, such as suture removal, phlebotomy, EKG, spirometry, Holter monitoring, and prescription refills, under supervision.
- Provide age-appropriate patient care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles and assessing patient data accordingly.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, obtained within 45 days if not already held.
Education
- GED or HS Equivalency Diploma.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or 2 years of recent full-time experience as a Medical Assistant.
Experience
- No prior experience required.

- Perform routine and complex technical skills within scope after demonstrated competency.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and team members.
- Proficient in computer skills, including electronic medical records.
- Strong customer service skills to support a positive patient experience.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift up to 35 pounds, and perform physical tasks throughout the day.
- Use patient handling equipment for heavier lifts, with assistance as needed.
- Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch, and fine motor skills.
- Exposure to hazards such as biological, chemical, electrical, and mechanical, with appropriate protective gear.
