Job summary

MaineHealth is hiring Medical Assistants (MA) to support patient care and administrative duties in a team-based setting. This role operates under the physician/APP license for clinical tasks and emphasizes smooth patient flow through the office.

Qualified candidates can receive sign-on bonuses: $4,000 for 0-1 years full-time and $5,000 for 1+ years full-time. Part-time bonuses prorated; per diem hires ineligible. BLS required within 30 days of start.

Qualifications

• Requires HS diploma or GED; MA program with clinical hours preferred.
• Certification: AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT; BLS within 30 days.
• Experience: 6 months MA or 1 year as Clinical Team Assistant.

Responsibilities

For a limited time MaineHealth is offering sign on bonuses for Medical Assistants:

0-1 years of experience eligible for $4,000 (full time)

1+ years of experience eligible for $5,000 (full time)

Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time MA position.

Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.

Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible;

former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.

Summary

The Medical Assistant (MA) role is assigned duties and responsibilities related to patient care and administrative support in a team-based environment while promoting a smooth flow of patients through the office. The Medical Assistant MA role functions under the license of the physician/advanced practice practitioner when performing clinical and other patient care responsibilities.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)

• Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following requirements: Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience completed; or completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting; or 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis).
• License/Certifications: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification required. (Prior to 5/01/25 MA IIs with 10 years MA experience and employed by MaineHealth as a MA in the most recent 5 years are exempt from certification requirement). Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. A NH Med Tech License, or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license is required for those positions located in New Hampshire.
• Experience: Six months of experience as a Medical Assistant or one year as a MaineHealth Clinical Team Assistant.

The pay range for this position is $21.09to $27.12 per hour.

Compensation for part-time positions isdeterminedon a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
