Job summary

MaineHealth is seeking Medical Assistants to join our team in a fast-paced setting. Eligible candidates for sign-on bonuses include $4,000 for 0-1 year experience and $5,000 for 1+ year experience for full-time positions; part-time hires prorate the bonus, per diem hires are ineligible.

The MA role covers patient care and administrative support under physician supervision. Current requirements include a high school diploma or GED, MA certification (AAMA/NHA/AMT/NCCT) with BLS, and 6 months of MA

Summary

The Medical Assistant (MA) role is assigned duties and responsibilities related to patient care and administrative support in a team-based environment while promoting a smooth flow of patients through the office. The Medical Assistant MA role functions under the license of the physician/advanced practice practitioner when performing clinical and other patient care responsibilities.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)
  • Education:High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following requirements: Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience completed; or completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting; or 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis).
  • License/Certifications:Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification required. (Prior to 5/01/25 MA IIs with 10 years MA experience and employed by MaineHealth as a MA in the most recent 5 years are exempt from certification requirement). Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. A NH Med Tech License, or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license is required for those positions located in New Hampshire.
  • Experience:Six months of experience as a Medical Assistant or one year as a MaineHealth Clinical Team Assistant.

The pay range for this position is $21.09to $27.12 per hour.
