Medical Assistant (MA) Cardiology (Bilingual Spanish)

The Medical Assistant works under general supervision to perform a variety of procedures, including patient-specific duties. They must have knowledge of each clinical task assigned and stay updated on any changes within the Medical Assistant scope of practice. The Medical Assistant may be required to float between departments and periodically travel. They are responsible for processing all outside referrals, including HMO and PPO, maintaining accurate records, and notifying all concerned parties of the outcomes as needed.

Required Skills

• Utilize approved processes to address the biophysical, psychological, educational, and environmental needs of patients and their families when providing care, considering patient age.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, which may include walking considerable distances and providing physical assistance to patients.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, infection control, and patient safety measures.
• Current AHA BLS certification is required.
• Demonstrate adaptability and accuracy.
• Good visual acuity and motor coordination are necessary.
• Strong clinical skills and basic math skills, including handling cash transactions.
• Proficient computer skills, including data entry and typing.
• Dependable, honest, and conscientious.
• Knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and other record-keeping platforms.

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• In cases of practice acquisition, competency validation by a PIH Health supervising physician is required.
• At least 10 years of experience with the specific physician or practice.
• Minimum six (6) months of front and back medical office experience is required.
• Two (2) years of experience in front and back medical office work is preferred.
• Valid California Driver’s License required for those in the Medical Assistant Float Pool.
• Ability to maintain composure in fast-paced situations, with excellent communication skills and adaptability to various roles.
