Job summary

MercyOne in Iowa is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant for day shift coverage. You will prepare patients, collect vital signs, document in medical records, and assist with procedures and immunizations under provider direction.

You'll schedule tests and coordinate lab work while maintaining confidentiality and delivering compassionate, team-based care in a Trinity Health environment.

Qualifications

• Must complete an accredited medical assistant program.
• Provide CMA/RMA/NCMA/CCMA/NRCMA/NPCE MA certifications within one year.
• Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care through preparation, vital signs, and documentation.
• Administer medications and immunizations under provider direction.
• Prepare patient charts and ensure accurate documentation.
• Schedule procedures, labs, x-rays, and surgeries; inform patients of plans.
• Coordinate physician schedules and insurance pre-certifications.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and ethical standards.
• Educate patients and families; promote evidence-based care.
• Support training of new colleagues and cross-coverage as needed.
• Escalate non-routine issues to supervisors.
