Job summary

Banner Health in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Liver Disease Center-Clinic. You will room patients, take vitals, assist with exams and procedures, and update electronic medical records.

You may provide office support such as answering phones, scheduling, and referrals. Uncertified MA candidates will have 12 months to become certified, with Banner covering certification costs and opportunities for career advancement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Active Medical Assistant certification is required; BLS certification preferred.
• Experience with medical office procedures and patient scheduling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs and documenting chief complaint.
• Assists providers with exams and minor in-office procedures.
• Coordinates and manages patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, and scheduling of treatments/tests.
• Provides clerical support and maintains patient records for billing and documentation.
• Maintains a clean, functional clinical environment and proper sterilization.
• Orders supplies and handles medication-related tasks.
• Develops effective communication with patients and staff.
• Completes onboarding/orientation activities and simulation training as needed.
• Interacts with staff, clinicians, patients, and external contacts to ensure quality care.
