Job summary

Christie Clinic's Behavioral Health department at the Windsor clinic in Champaign seeks a full-time Medical Assistant/Insurance Specialist to work Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm. Duties include obtaining insurance prior authorization for treatments, medications, and referrals, scheduling appointments, and direct patient care in the clinic office setting.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or equivalent, experience in a medical office, and familiarity with health insurance systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred: Certification as Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant.
• Experience in a medical office is preferred.
• Familiarity with health insurance systems and payer portals is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Obtain insurance prior authorizations for appointments, medications, and therapy.
• Schedule patient appointments and triage as needed.
• Transcribe physician orders and obtain patient vital signs.
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain medical records.
• Respond to insurance denials and coordinate referrals and authorizations.
