Job summary

Midway Specialty Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to support both back-office clinical care and front-office patient services at our Port Saint Lucie, FL locations. This on-site role requires phlebotomy, vital signs, EMR documentation, and compassionate, patient-centered care.

The ideal candidate will be clinically proficient, detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to transition between clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring efficient clinic operations and exceptional patient experiences.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program preferred.
• Medical Assistant certification or registration preferred.
• Previous Medical Assistant experience in a physician practice, outpatient clinic, or healthcare setting preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs, clinical procedures, infection prevention, and patient care practices.
• Experience using electronic medical records and accurately documenting patient information.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients, prepare them for examinations and treatments, obtain and accurately document vital signs, medical histories, and other relevant clinical information, and assist providers with patient care activities.
• Perform venipuncture, blood draws, and other authorized specimen collection procedures in accordance with training, demonstrated competency, applicable requirements, and established clinical protocols.
• Assist providers with examinations, treatments, and approved point-of-care testing while maintaining appropriate patient safety, infection prevention, and quality standards.
• Support patient check-in and check-out, registration, demographic and insurance updates, insurance verification, appointment scheduling, and other administrative activities to ensure accurate records and efficient patient flow.
• Assist with appointment confirmations, follow-up scheduling, referrals, and communication between patients, providers, and other care team members to support continuity of care.
• Accurately enter, update, and maintain patient information, clinical documentation, and visit-related records within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Provide compassionate, respectful, and nonjudgmental support to patients receiving HIV, hepatitis, STI, and other infectious disease or specialty care services.
