Job summary

UTHealth Houston Neurosciences is seeking a Medical Assistant III to join a clinical team focused on safe, efficient, patient-centered care. The MA III will schedule appointments, coordinate with external entities, perform patient intakes, assist in procedures, and triage calls, with experience in surgical settings considered a plus.

You will work on a busy clinical floor, support routine and specialty procedures, and contribute to accurate records, scheduling, and referrals.

Qualifications

• BLS (AHA) required.
• CMA (AAMA) certification required or
• RMA (AMT) certification required or
• NCMA (NCT) certification required or
• CCMA (NHA) certification required — choose valid credential.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care as part of the clinical team.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate with external entities.
• Take patient intakes, vitals, and updates to medical records.
• Assist during procedures and with routine and specialty procedures.
• Triages patient calls and manages referrals and inquiries.
• Maintain clinic rooms and supplies, ensure HIPAA privacy.
• Support with test administration and specimen handling.
• Perform clerical tasks: photocopying, scanning, faxing and follow-up communications.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate patient flow.
• Ensure accurate documentation and scheduling accuracy.
