Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a certified Medical Assistant to support patient examinations and procedures under supervision. The role includes performing clinical tasks, charting in the EMR, and assisting with patient flow and care coordination.

The MA will schedule visits, help ensure medical necessity and eligibility for care, and maintain high standards of safety and privacy in line with CLIA, HIPAA, NCQA and policy requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of Medical Assistant experience in a clinic/outpatient setting or one year in the Novice-II position.
• BLS certification and CMA/MA/NCCT/NAHP/EMT certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in examinations and procedures under direct supervision.
• Record patient data and ensure accurate documentation in EMR.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify medical necessity for care.
• Maintain patient safety and hygiene according to standards.
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians and staff.
