Job summary

UTHealth Houston is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the clinical team in delivering safe, effective and patient-centered care. You will assist with visits, record vital signs, manage documentation and help prepare rooms and procedures.

The role requires a high school diploma or approved MA training, with 6 months of related experience or completion of an MA program. This is a security-sensitive Texas position with strong emphasis on confidentiality and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program preferred.
• Six months experience or completion of a Medical Assistant Training Program.

Responsibilities

• Promotes quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction.
• Prepare for patient visits with schedules, test results and clinic requirements.
• Room patients, document chief complaint, vital signs, allergies and medications.
• Performs hearing/vision testing, EKG, spirometry, specimen collection, and reprocessing.
• Stock rooms and assist with routine and specialty procedures.
• Schedule follow ups or referrals and perform routine clerical duties.
• Screen patients by telephone and in person; ensure HIPAA privacy.
