Responsibilities include assisting with procedures, venipuncture, vaccine administration, and coordinating referrals and scheduling. Ideal candidates hold an accredited MA program, BLS, and unit-specific certifications, with strong communication and customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification is required.
• PEARS may be required within 1 year in select areas.
• Successful completion of Atrium Health's competency assessment.
• Maintains certification such as CMA, CCMA, NCMA, or similar per unit requirements.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies.
• Performs rooming tasks: vital signs, history, screens, and health maintenance.
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered.
• Conducts phlebotomy, specimen handling, and POCT under standing orders.
• Administers medications and vaccines safely following rights of medication administration.
• Handles duties like referrals, scheduling, and insurance authorizations as needed.
• Maintains clean, stocked work areas and proper equipment maintenance.
