Job summary

Advocate Health’s Highland Avenue Primary in Winston-Salem is seeking a Medical Assistant I to join a growing clinic serving a medically and socially complex patient population. This full-time, 40-hour/week, day-shift role involves rooming patients, taking vital signs, reviewing medical history, and coordinating care.

The position supports providers through procedures and lab duties, venipuncture, POCT, and vaccine administration, while handling scheduling, referrals, and patient communication.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Current AHA BLS certification required.
• Certification in MA credentials such as CMA/CCMA/NCMA/RMA is preferred depending on area.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain vitals, medical history, and screenings.
• Assist providers with procedures and laboratory duties as ordered.
• Perform venipuncture, specimen handling, and POCT per standing orders.
• Administer medications and vaccines following safety protocols.
• Handle referrals, insurance authorizations, scheduling, and patient messaging.
• Maintain clean, stocked work areas and proper equipment hygiene.
