Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center Gaston County is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to support patient care on the 0730–1630 schedule. You will perform rooming, vital signs, medication reconciliation, screenings, and basic lab duties under supervision, ensuring safety and accuracy.

Eligible benefits are included. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• BLS certification required; CMA/RMA or equivalent recognized by national organizations.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows policies and procedures, and maintains competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings.
• Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties including venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, order preparation, and results tracking.
• Completes CLIA-waived tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing per CLIA standards.
• Administers medications and vaccines safely following medication administration rights.
• Maintains a clean work environment, ensures equipment and supplies are stocked and in working order.
• May assist with training and onboarding of teammates.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Accredited Medical Assistant program completed

2 years verifiable Medical Assistant experience in last 5 years
