Job summary

IU Health is hiring for a Medical Assistant role responsible for direct patient care and clinical workflow support at our Indianapolis location. Under supervision, you will room patients, document vital signs and histories, and ensure accurate medical records and charting.

Requirements include BLS certification and a Medical Assistant program; board certifications are preferred. A strong knowledge of ICD-10/CPT coding, OSHA/CLIA/ADA, and front-office operations helps ensure high-quality patient

Qualifications

• AHA Basic Life Support certification required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Certification: CMA/CCMA/RMA/NCMA/CMAC from recognized bodies preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• TB testing validated or completed within 6 months of hire.
• Knowledge of Quality Programs, Meaningful Use and Standard Work within 6 months.
• Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures.
• Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers.
• Ability to master standard clinical competencies and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and prepare them for visits.
• Obtain and document vital signs, patient histories, and chief complaints.
• Complete medication reconciliation and update patient records.
• Administer injections as ordered by the provider.
• Provide direct patient care and support clinical workflows.
• Obtain and process medical records as needed.
• Scan records and documentation into patient charts
