Job summary

IU Health in Bloomington, IN is seeking a Medical Assistant to support direct patient care and front office tasks. Duties include rooming patients, taking vital signs, administering injections, and preparing charts for providers.

Workdays are four 9-hour days, 7:30–5:00, with on-site location at 2651 E Discovery Parkway. The position requires MA certification and BLS; experience 0–2 years acceptable with CMA/CCMA/RMA preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required; completion within 13 months may be needed.
• Requires 0-2 years of relevant experience.
• Graduation from a Medical Assistant program is required for new hires after Oct 12, 2026.
• Current CMA/MA certifications (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, CMAC) are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain/document vital signs.
• Administer injections and medications as ordered by the provider.
• Assist providers with in-office procedures and treatments.
• Collect and process urine specimens and laboratory samples.
• Perform chart preparation and pre-visit review to ensure information is available.
• Review medical histories, medications, allergies, and test results prior to appointments.
• Document patient information accurately in the EMR.
• Support patient flow and coordinate follow-up care as needed.
• Maintain exam rooms, stock supplies, and ensure clinical readiness throughout the day.
