Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a part-time Medical Assistant to support urgent care operations in the Wake Forest Health Network. The role involves rooming patients, taking vitals, history, and screenings, and assisting clinicians with procedures.

Responsibilities include lab work, specimen handling, vaccines, and coordinating referrals while maintaining a clean, stocked, and compliant work environment. Prior MA certification and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification
• Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant
• CPR/PEARS may be required in some areas
• Completion of Atrium Health competency assessments

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies
• Performs rooming/visit tasks: vitals, history, screenings
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered
• Lab duties: venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT per orders
• Administers medications and vaccines safely
• Enrolls and coordinates referrals and insurance authorizations
• Maintains clean environment and stocked supplies
• Communicates effectively and escalates as needed
