Job description

Medical Assistant II (MA) - General Ambulatory Services

$5,000 Sign on Bonus for all eligible New Hires.

Are you an experienced MA interested in joining a robust and strongly connected remote team? Our centralized MA General Ambulatory Services team handles prescription refills, prior authorizations, charting, documentation of lab and test results, functions as a hospital liaison as well as medical record work for our Primary Care Clinics. If you are a self-motivated, go-getter with a strong passion to provide the best in patient care, we would like to speak with you!

Hours are M-F 8am-5pm EST. You must have reliable internet (not satellite) and have a quiet comfortable space for you to do your work FT remotely.

*You must be currently registered with the AMT or Certified with the AAMA to be considered.

Responsibilities
  1. Greets, checks in patients, and notifies appropriate provider. Prepares patient, room and equipment for procedures and exams.
  2. Takes and records vital signs. Informs provider of patient vital signs and concerns.
  3. Recognizes and treats emergency patients as a priority, assists with patient examinations and treatments.
  4. Handles patient situations over the phone, schedules appointments and procedures with medical professionals. Understands limitations in dealing with patients over the phone, and involves nursing staff and providers.
  5. Registers new patients and establishes a medical record.
  6. Assists patients by filling out insurance and other forms.
  7. Supplies authorized information upon request by third party payors.
  8. Instructs patients in preparation for specific procedures.
  9. Collects and processes routine laboratory specimens.
  10. Operates and maintains clinical equipment.
  11. Maintains and uses aseptic technique including sterilization, disinfection and disposal of contaminated material.
  12. Cleans, wraps and autoclaves instruments. Cares for supplies and equipment.
  13. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
  1. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program required.
  2. Previous experience in office or outpatient ambulatory care setting strongly preferred.
  3. Demonstrated strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work well as a member of a team.
  5. Must be willing and able to participate in evening, weekend, and holiday coverage according to needs of the department.
Required Licensure/Certifications
  1. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareers Association plus DOL Registered Apprenticeships Certificate of Completion.
  2. Current BLS certification required.
